Aerodom/Vinci Airports has confirmed conversations with Air Europa over a damaged fuselage of an Air Europa 787-9 jet that occurred on 7 April 2024 at Las Americas International Airport. The airport management has said the airport is insured for unexpected events such as that which occurred when asphalt detached from a runway at Las Americas International Airport. The situation caused the shutdown of the main runway at the airport for three hours, with flights having to circle above, not leave or depart the airport, or be detoured to other airports for landing.
Air Europa UX89 landed as programmed, but suffered damages.
As reported, the airline is awaiting the arrival of some parts to make preliminary repairs before the airplane is taken to Spain for final repairs.
A pilot, Francisco Diaz, published photos of the damages to the airplane.
