Former rector of the state university UASD (1987-1990) who was also a former long-time Minister of Interior and Police (2004-2011) Franklin Almeyda Rancier died on Friday, 19 April 2024. He died at 83 years. He was buried with honors on Sunday.
President Luis Abinader had declared a day of warning on Saturday, 20 April 2024.
After the wake at the Funeraria Blandino, Almeyda’s body was taken for a ceremony at the UASD.
Interior and Police Minister Jesús Vásquez Martínez highlighted the contributions of Almeyda to creating Dominican institutions.
