The leading beauty pageant in the Dominican Republic, the Miss Universe contest is scheduled for a final on 5 May 2024. This year nine moms are participating.
Magali Febles, the organizer of the contest says the moms are participating following the new rules. “I agreed because a woman’s beauty is not in her age. Beauty is in her essence. Welcome all the mothers of the Dominican Republic and the world,” she said. She did point to the dichotomy of the Miss title of the winner.
As reported in Diario Libre, Febles explained that the Miss Universe contest has been a global benchmark in the world of beauty and elegance. However, in recent years, the pageant has moved beyond traditional beauty stereotypes and has begun to focus on inclusion and diversity.
In the 2023 edition, married, divorced, mothers and pregnant candidates were allowed to participate. In addition, the opportunity was opened to women over 28 years of age, thus challenging the norms established in previous years.
The final of this 68th edition of the Miss Dominican Republic National Beauty Contest will return to the large Sambil Santo Domingo convention center on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 9:00 p.m., with national broadcast on the Color Visión Canal 9 television plant.
