The Boston Celtics won 114-111 the game in which Dominican Al Horford’s team found itself trailing the Indiana Pacers by up to 18 points or more. But in the final minute, the team just did it. An unbelievable play by Jrue Holiday sealed the win.
The comeback would happen in the last seconds of the game. In the press conference after the game, Al Horford said “poise” made the differene. “We were down big, the biggest thing we understood we needed to continue to play and trust each other; had an opportunity in the fourth to get it done,” he said.
It was a game when the shots weren’t happening, and the Indiana Pacers had it all going for them that night.
Horford contributed seven three-pointers. He called his participation “pretty special.” He said he was “doing all I can to contribute to the team.”
The Indiana Pacers now have to win the next four games to best the Boston Celtics. To date, there has never been a successful comeback from a 3–0 series deficit in the NBA. Of the 154 times (as of April 27, 2024) an NBA team fell into a 3–0 deficit, only 4 of them (~3%) forced a game seven which they ultimately lost.
