Reservas bank robbery

The Banco de Reservas had confirmed the robbery by “several criminals” of the bank at the La Fuente supermarket in Santiago city. The robbers carried cash from two of the ATMs. The press release on the robbery from the bank said “little cash” was stolen and downplayed the injured, yet a report in Diario Libre tells of a bank customer seriously injured. He was parked waiting for his wife to use an ATM machine.

“The bandits carried little cash taken from two of our ATMs, without being able to penetrate the vault, they left without causing damage,” says the Banreservas statement posted on its X account.

“No Banreservas client or employee has suffered harm from this vandalism,” said the preliminary report from the bank on the assault.

The bank said that the security protocols had been activated effectively to safeguard the integrity of clients and collaborators. And that the National Police is on the trail of the unscrupulous individuals and refrained from offering further information to not to hinder the investigations.

Diario Libre reported on the complaint of Alexandra Núñez, daughter of farmer Ambrosio Núñez, one of the injured in the assault. She criticized the response from the authorities. Ambrosio Núñez was waiting in his car outside the bank while his wife carried out a bank transaction. He was shot at by the assailants and had to be operated losing a kidney, suffering serious damages to his liver, diaphragm and lung.

His daughter, Nunez contradicted the press release from the bank when she said:
“There was not even a protocol to deal with this, neither on the part of the scientific police, nor the police nor the prosecutor’s office. I had to go today to file a complaint because no one wanted to talk to us, no one has approached us, no one has told us anything,” she said.
