Tropical wave to bring more rains to Santo Domingo

Those in Greater Santo Domingo over the weekend got a break over the Mother’s Day holiday from the recent heavy rains. But now, more rains are forecast. Diario Libre reports that weather forecasters are expecting the capital city and south coast areas to again feel the brunt of a tropical wave that will join forces with a trough to bring plenty of rain.

The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) has placed 24 provinces, and the National District, under weather alerts for flooding.

Likewise, with summer soon officially here, the noontime highs for most of the country are hovering around 32 C. Early morning lows are rising to around 24C from around 18C during the “winter” early mornings.

Intense recent rains and tornados have destroyed crops and damaged property nationwide.
