With the elections behind him, high-ranking party official and 2024 campaign director for the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Minister of Public Works Deligne Ascensión again has time to concentrate on his job as Minister of Public Works.
In an inspection of the works at the Duarte Highway Km 9 intersection point, the feeder for the Santo Domingo west, east and north bypasses, Ascensión confirmed the pace of works has stepped up and the project is expected to be finished in 90 days, or by the end of August 2024. This means, that those who travel in that direction should try to avoid peak times to avoid long bottlenecks that are worsened by the construction in progress.
The government has announced it is investing RD$1.25 billion in the intersection roadworks to improve mobility of around 150,000 vehicles that commute daily through the Km 9 road distributor.
