Hot summer is here

After weeks of rains, the summer is bringing unusually early hot spells. On Tuesday, 11 June, the evening did not seem to chill off, and temperatures upward of 33C were still lingering at around 8pm in the capital city.

Expect a hot Wednesday, and for Thursday, the National Weather Office (Onamet) forecasters say that a system of high pressure and the presence of Sahara Dust will keep the rains away. There may be scattered showers in the northeast, east, border provinces and Central Mountain Range.

Onamet is forecasting very hot weather for the summer. At present, the heat is exacerbated by the passing Sahara Dust clouds.

Onamet recommends people to stay out of the sun from 11am to 4pm, wear light clothing and drink enough liquids, preferably water, to stay hydrated.
