Weatherman Jean Suriel explains the heat keeping people sweating in the capital city. The passing dense cloud of Saharan dust is exacerbating the summer heat. Suriel says the dust plume will have moved away from the Caribbean by Friday, 29 June 2024. Meanwhile, skies are covered by a white or grayish blanket due to the crossing plume of Saharan dust.
The National Weather Office (Onamet) indicates that the hot temperatures will continue given that the wind flows from the east and southeast during the summer days and due to the presence of Saharan dust. Onamet recommends staying out of the sun from 11am to 4pm, and wearing light clothing in light colors, and continued hydration.
