Limelight on Mimilo Jimenez, the government insider par excellence

The Public Ministry file on the Calamar Case describes Ramon Emilio Jimenez Collie (Mimilo) as an experienced operational arm, who brought in people, and suggested illicit activities, while at the same time handling through those working for him enormous sums of fraudulently obtained money. He was an insider in doing business in government and knew how to skim off the cream.

The file that can be read online, explains “Mimilo” made billions in unorthodox transactions. He has returned some millions. His participation in the schemes is controversial because he has gotten away returning only a few millions after serving as witness of others involved in the case of milking the state, El Dia reports.

Hoy Mismo explained the case on TV on 1 July 2024, urging people read the file to see the deal Mimilo Jimenez is getting from the state at a time when the Abinader administration and the IMF are hinting that tax increases are needed.

For his participation in the Calamar Case, where the main accused are former ministers Donald Guerrero, Gonzalo Castillo and José Ramón Peralta, Mimilo Jimenez has agreed to return RD$715 million in cash and assets. Jimenez Collie is the son of a former Minister of Defense of the Dominican Republic.
