Diario Libre reports on the Central Electoral Board (JCE) final vote count for each political party that participated in the 2024 general elections. The vote counts per political party for the municipal, legislative and presidential levels determine the percentage of taxpayer money that is allocated to the political parties in the next four years.
Thirty-four political parties participated in the election, including four majority parties. The PRD lost its status as a majority party in the 2024 election for failing to receive 5% of the vote, which allocates billions in taxpayer cash to these political parties for their political activities.
Diario Libre explains the vote counts resulted in only three political parties receiving majority vote status. These are the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), the only three to receive more than a million votes.
