The defending champions Canada overcame the United States on 16 July 2024 in a hard-fought match that went to a maximum of five sets with a score of 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 25 -27, 25-23, 15-9) to put their record at (2-0) in the 17th Norceca Men’s Pan American Volleyball Cup that is taking place in Santo Domingo. The tournament is being held from 14 July to 21 July at the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
For locals, the tournament is also an opportunity to watch the progress made by the Dominican national men’s team.
The Dominican Republic team defeated Mexico to keep its undefeated status (3-0) in the 10-team tournament. The playoffs will be: 19 July playoffs for semifinals; 20 July classification matches and semifinals; 21 July: classification matches and finals.
Ten teams are competing, divided into two pools. The winner of each group advances directly to the semifinals. The second and third-placed teams in each group will compete in the quarterfinals.
Group A includes defending champion Canada, USA, Chile, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Group B includes Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Peru, and the host nation, the Dominican Republic.
