Four men arrested and over 6,000 grams of presumed cocaine seized in Bayahibe

Over 6,000 grams of presumed cocaine (06 packages) were seized by agents of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry during a joint surveillance and interdiction operation conducted in the municipality of Bayahibe, La Altagracia province on Sunday, 21 July 2024.

Acting on intelligence reports, anti-narcotics agents launched an operation on the main street near the entrance to the park in Bayahibe to apprehend several men allegedly involved in a drug transaction.

During the operation, authorities intercepted a white Honda CRV SUV with three men on board. Upon inspection, a bag containing six packages of presumed cocaine, totaling approximately 6,110 grams, was found in the trunk.

Continuing their anti-narcotics efforts, agents also intervened with the driver of another vehicle, a Land Rover SUV, who was serving as a lookout for the confiscated substance. Both vehicles were seized along with six mobile phones, which are crucial evidence to strengthen the ongoing investigation.

In total, four Dominican nationals were arrested and will be presented before the Permanent Attention Jurisdiction of La Altagracia province to face coercive measures in the coming hours.

“Authorities have intensified operations against illicit drug trafficking, removing over six million grams of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, crack, ecstasy, and other narcotics from the streets in 2024.”

The seized substance packages have been sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), while the Public Ministry and DNCD continue to expand their investigations to identify any other individuals involved in this drug trafficking network.
