President Luis Abinader announced in the La Semanal press conference on Monday, 22 July 2024 that a record number of heads of government and celebrities have expressed their interest in coming for his second inaugural on 16 August 2024.
He confirmed that the inaugural for the first time would take place at the National Theater to accommodate the large number of special guests. He said that the General Assembly at Congress, where the event is normally held, is too small. He said both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have agreed to the change of venue.
He said that at least 15 heads of government have announced their interest in coming.
