
The Dominican flag holder and the country’s hope for a gold in the Paris Olympics, Marileidy Paulino is scheduled to run in the 400 m women’s semi-final on Wednesday, 7 August 2024 at 14:45.
Marileidy Paulino secured the lead spot in the semi-finals with a time of 49.42. Her personal best is 48.76 and a season best 49.20. In the 400m Olympic preliminary heats, the top three finishers in each of six races automatically qualify for the semifinals, as well as the next three fastest times, for a total of 18 semifinal qualifiers.
The Dominican government is offering a cash prize of RD$15 million for gold, RD$10 million for silver and RD$8 million for bronze. So far, two boxers, Yunior Alcantara and Cristian Pinales, have cashed in with two bronzes.
