New director of Airport Security: Brigadier General Enmanuel Souffront Tamayo

Air Force Brigadier General Enmanuel Souffront Tamayo / El Aviador

Air Force Brigadier General Enmanuel Souffront Tamayo has assumed the position of director of the Specialized Body for Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC), Noticias SIN reports.

He was sworn in on Monday, 19 August 2024 by Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez, the Vice Minister of Defense.

Souffront Tamayo previously served as the director of the aviation accident investigation commission.

During the change of command ceremony, the outgoing CESAC director, Air Force Brigadier General Floreal Suárez Martínez, summarized achievements that included the seizure of 188,934 prohibited items from being transported on aircraft, a substantial figure that reflects the rigor and effectiveness of inspections carried out at the country’s various airports.

General Suárez Martínez also reported the detention and vetting of 188 passengers with suspicious profiles on commercial flights from different airports.

Brigadier General Floreal Suárez Martinez was promoted to the position of commander of the Air Force.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Monika Infante, the director-general of Aeropuertos Dominicanos XXI (Aerodom); Vice Minister of Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez; and the newly appointed director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez.
