Josefa Castillo named to Inaipi

High-ranking ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) politician, Josefa Castillo was named to direct Inaipi, the National Institute of Early Childhood. The government agency is responsible for managing early childhood (0 to 5 years) programs in the Dominican Republic.

During the first government of President Abinader, Castillo had served as Superintendent of Insurance. To take that position, she resigned her elected role as deputy for Santo Domingo province. Her son, Jheyson Garcia, and daughter in law Kinsberly Taveras, were elected deputies for the PRM in the Chamber of Deputies in the 2024 congressional election.

Josefa Castillo is a graduate in psychology from the state university (UASD) in 1988. She furthered her education with a postgraduate degree in Education from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in 1998, and another postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management from the Instituto Dominico Americano. She also studied Therapeutic Management of Family and Couple Dysfunction from the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD) in 1995.

The family business is the Colegio Dominico Chino in Santo Domingo, a private school where the Chinese language and Chinese preschool, elementary and high school subjects are taught.
