
A passing trough will bring scattered showers and some relief to the current very hot summer days. El Dia reports that highs on Tuesday, 20 August 2024 were the record for the year.
The Weather Institute (Indomet) says that a tropical wave is interacting with a trough and this will bring cloudy skies, scattered showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to the Dominican Republic, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Hot temperatures, nevertheless, will persist. The high humidity is making people sweat. It feels even hotter than it is.
According to El Dia, on Monday, 19 August 2024, a temperature of 41.4°C was reported in Boca de Mao, in the northwest of the country. This was the highest so far in the Dominican Republic this year.
August is usually the hottest month in the Dominican Republic. Indomet in its forecast on Wednesday, 21 August establishes forecasts temperature ranges from minimums of 24°C to 26°C in the early morning to maximums of 34°C to 36 °C around noon. The exception is temperatures of 36°C to 38°C for the border cities of Montecristi (37.4°C) in the northwest and Jimaní (37°C) in the southwest.
