
The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) announced on Saturday, 24 August 2024 the confiscating of a large shipment of almost 1.6 tons of cocaine at the Caucedo Port. The shipment was in a freighter that was transiting from the port of Santa Marta in Colombia to Hamburg, Germany. The cocaine was hidden in hundreds of cardboard boxes filled with lemons.
El Dia reports the recently seized shipment would have a market value of around US$63.5 million or around RD$3 billion.
Noticias SIN reports the bust is the sixth largest in Dominican history.
The Presidency announced Vice Admiral Jose Manuel Cabrera Ulloa to continue at the helm of the National Drug Control Agency. A record of drug shipments have been seized under his management of the leading drugs combatting office.
