Although the numbers vary according to the source reporting the news, it seems that a large majority of the nation’s newly-minted members of the Congress have yet to deliver their “Sworn Declaration of Assets” to the appropriate authorities. Some sources say that only two senators, out of 32, and two dozen deputies, out of 194, have delivered the necessary documents.
Noticias SIN reports that less than 20% of the legislators have complied with the mandate and documented their wealth as required by the Chamber of Accounts.
All this is required under Law 311-14. One report on n.com says that half of the members of Congress have, indeed, filed their statement with the Chamber of Accounts. All of the members must file this document by 16 September 2024.
