
The Ministry of Interior and Police announced it temporarily shut down 13 businesses in the National District and Santo Domingo East, as part of the “Operation Guarantee of Peace” initiative.
Authorities reported a total of 100 interventions in nightclubs during the second weekend of the operation. These establishments were accused of violating the law, affecting the safety and tranquility of residents in various communities of the capital city.
Among the closed businesses in the National District are Liquor Store 30-30, Bodega El Progreso, La Terraza (in Piantini), La Provenza, Habibi, and Sparta, the latter three located in Plaza Universitaria.
In Santo Domingo East, Super Colmado Vaneza in Invivienda, Discoteca 911, Colmado Los Socios, Los Socios Discoteca, and Billar Chicha Bueno were closed.
Fermín Domínguez, the director-general of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Program (COBA), stated that the sanctioned businesses violated noise pollution prevention regulations, sold alcoholic beverages outside of permitted hours, and allowed minors on their premises.
Authorities indicated that 41 businesses were issued warnings, while the remaining registered establishments were operating in accordance with regulations.
According to information provided by COBA, the alcoholic beverage section of the Dragón de Oro supermarket was also closed for selling these products during prohibited hours.
The operation involved the participation of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Program (COBA), the Public Ministry, the National Police, the Ministry of Defense (MIDE), and the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD).
