In a joint operation, the Specialized Corps for Border Security (Cesfront) and the Dominican Navy seized 810,000 units of Capital brand cigarettes in a boat off the coast of Montecristi, specifically at Cayo Muerto. Authorities reported that the contraband was found inside a 23-foot boat named “Yodielki.” Two individuals were apprehended while operating the vessel when these were unable to provide any documentation.
In addition to the cigarettes, which were divided into 81 boxes of 50 packs each, two Yamaha outboard motors were also seized. The confiscated goods, the detainees, and the boat were turned over to the Montecristi prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings.
