Caribe Tours was penalized with a minimum wage and the company fired the driver, after a video showing his reckless driving went viral on the Internet. A passenger in a car behind the bus filmed the imprudent passing of the bus. The sanctions might serve to deter other drivers to avoid traffic accidents.
The news made headlines because it could be a first time Intrant penalizes a bus company. Intrant is under new management, that of Milton Morrison, formerly of EdeSur and a known politician (Pais Possible minority party that backed President Luis Abinader).
