The new Cabo Rojo Cruise Ship Port in Pedernales, in southwestern Dominican Republic, continues to welcome cruise ships as these test the port with their passengers in the upcoming months.
The Dominican government allowed for the installation of the major cruise ship terminal that has opened up one of the most pristine secluded beaches in the Caribbean to the entire world, Bahia de las Aguilas. The Cabo Rojo port is located in a lovely beach area as well. The new Cabo Rojo facility can accommodate up to a million passengers a year.
The cruise ship travelers are preceding the opening of the first large resorts in the area that previously had only had small hotels for adventure travelers.
Adventure travelers seeking solitude, should try to avoid coinciding with the dates of the large cruise ships.
Notable cruise lines scheduled to dock at this port include:
• Royal Caribbean: Adventure of the Seas on 16 October 2024
