310 cocaine packages headed for Belgium seized in Dominican port

In a major blow to international drug trafficking, Dominican authorities have seized 310 packages of suspected cocaine at the Caucedo Port in Boca Chica, half an hour east of the capital city. The joint operation was carried out by the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), the Customs Agency (DGA), and the Port’s Military Security, acting on intelligence reports.

A thorough inspection of a container filled with cotton, en route from Guatemala to Belgium, led to the discovery of the illicit substance concealed within 10 black bags. X-ray scans confirmed the presence of the drugs.

This seizure marks another significant victory in the Dominican Republic’s ongoing battle against narcotics. So far this year, authorities have confiscated over 26.1 tons of drugs. With international cooperation, this total has risen to a high 56.4 tons.
