Santiago night spots inspected as Ministry of Interior & Police continues its anti-noise crusade

The Ministry of Interior and Police continues to impose guidelines for reducing noise pollution nationwide. The most recent interventions were in La Vega and Santiago with the seizing of numerous sound systems as part of the Peace Guarantee Operation newly appointed Minister of Interior and Police Faride Raful has begun with ample citizen support.

The Ministry reported the seizing of several music equipment from the colmadon known as Bodega Abelito in La Vega.

In Santiago, the agents of the Alcohol Control Directorate (COBA), authorities inspected 12 businesses and issued a warning to one establishment, Atlantic Cigar House, for operating outside permitted hours.

Minister Raful emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety, stating that authorities work around the clock to prevent any actions that could disrupt peace. She highlighted the importance of compliance with regulations regarding alcohol sales, particularly regarding underage drinking and the use of public spaces.

The minister attributed the recent decline in crime rates to the joint efforts of the security forces and the government’s commitment to addressing social issues. She called for continued collaboration between citizens, law enforcement, and community organizations to foster a culture of peace.

During the operation in Santiago, several areas were inspected to ensure that the night spots respect the guidelines. These included the areas of La Terraza, Reparto Manhattan, Ensanche Libertad, INVI, Américas Palma, Avenida 27 de Febrero, Baracoa, Calle del Sol, Centro Histórico, and the area around the Heroes of the Restoration Monument.

Inspections were made of several popular businesses including La Terraza, La Mia Drink, Lovera Discotec, Marraya Bar, Le Mouk Club, Serie 73, Mazukamba, Opsi Bar, Francifol, Tabú Room, and VIP Matum.

The “Peace Guarantee” operation, which was supported by the COBA director, Fermín Domínguez, and regional law enforcement officials, aims to enforce regulations and promote a safer environment in Santiago.

In Santo Domingo, Diario Libre reports that a Bella Vista church has checked the noise levels that impact its neighbors.
