Relatives in two recent traffic incidents suspect the driver of the vehicle that caused their loss are using their influence to create obstacles to justice. These are the cases of the relatives of influencer Doelmi Cabrera and wife in San Cristóbal, and that of the Trinidad family in Ciudad Juan Bosch.
In the case of the late Doelmi Cabrera and his wife Yoanna, the father of Cabrera says the identified driver should be tested for alcohol and drugs. The authorities have not named the person. What is known was that the driver was hospitalized for injuries. A Jorge Jael Lopez Lebron has been named in the media as the person driving a Jeep Rubicon that killed the two at 3am.
In the Ciudad Juan Bosch incident, Altagracia Trinidad Ortiz died, her sister Maribel Trinidad Ortiz and 14-year old daughter were seriously injured after being rammed into by a vehicle. A minor was declared as the driver of the vehicle that caused the death. Surveillance video has shown several people in the vehicle that caused the deaths. The vehicle is in the name of a judge. The family of the deceased says this was no accident and calls it an assassination attempt. The family says the minor was not driving the vehicle and demands a thorough investigation of the surveillance videos.
Now an eye witness to the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of Altagracia Trinidad, Dr. Rubén Radames Martes Tapia, who described himself as a medical doctor and lawyer, has come forward and also urges an in-depth investigation. As reported in Listin Diario, he has said that the incident was a premeditated murder. According to Dr. Tapia, the driver intentionally targeted Trinidad as she was leaving the plaza with her family.
“It wasn’t an accident,” Tapia asserted. “The driver was going the wrong way, stopped in the middle of the road as if waiting for them, aimed the vehicle directly at them, and then accelerated. This was a deliberate and premeditated homicide.”
The witness further claims that the driver is an adult, and suspects the involved judge Mary Berenita Ramírez Jiménez of the Fourth Court of Instruction of Santo Domingo, has attempted to frame a minor son as the culprit. “In the videos I have, you can clearly see that the person driving is wearing a red polo shirt. When he gets out, you see a tall man, and the judge—who seems to have another minor child—decided to pin the blame on the younger one. But the Forensics Institute (Inacif) can easily determine the height of both individuals from the videos to conclude who was actually driving,” Tapia explained.
The witness to the fatal hit-and-run in Ciudad Juan Bosch has alleged that the incident was a targeted attack motivated by a previous altercation. He said the driver of the vehicle intentionally aimed at the woman lawyer, who was among the victims, due to a prior disagreement. The witness claims that one of the individuals in the vehicle had made inappropriate advances towards the minor girl, and the woman lawyer had confronted the offender, slapping him, as reported in Listin Diario.
