A tropical disturbance is moving closer to Puerto Rico. It could develop into a tropical depression. The National Weather Institute (Indotel) forecasts increasing rainfall across the Dominican Republic as of Friday, 18 October 2024.
According to forecast models, the disturbance is expected to bring heavy downpours and gusty winds to the eastern and northeastern regions beginning Friday morning. These weather conditions are anticipated to spread to the southeast (including Greater Santo Domingo), north, central mountain range, and the border region by afternoon and continue into the early evening.
The National Meteorological Office has issued a warning for residents to be prepared for significant rainfall, potential flooding and strong winds. The bad news is also that the forecast for hot temperatures remains.
