Government kitchens serve thousands at FIFA U-17 World Cup

FIFA regulations do not allow for any food or drinks to be sold in the participating stadiums. As a result, Vice President Raquel Peña asked the head of the Dominican Economic Kitchens (CEED) to provide some snacks for the youngsters who are attending the matches as volunteers.

As a result, the kitchens are serving up some 3,000 small meals a day at Santo Domingo’s Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium and Santiago’s Cibao F.C. Stadium on the campus of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra.

The so-called Comedores Economicos are known for serving good food at a very low cost. The combination of price/quality is surprising many folks. As the FIFA U-17 World Cup hosts 16 national female squads from around the world, the volunteers are there to ensure the event is a success.
