The presidents of the Dominican Republic’s Senate and Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo de los Santos and Alfredo Pacheco, respectively, signed the newly revised Constitution on Friday, 18 October 2024, following its approval by the National Revisory Assembly. The bill now moves to the Presidency for enactment.
Senate President Ricardo de los Santos stated: “We are delivering to the Dominican people a Constitution that will not give the slightest possibility to any leader who comes to govern this country to perpetuate themselves in power.”
The actual full bill with the clause changes and transitory clauses has yet to be released to the general public.
