The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) will be conducting its fourth National Earthquake Evacuation Drill on Wednesday, 23 October 2024. The drill is set to begin at 10am and aims to prepare the Dominican population for a potential earthquake and refine emergency response protocols.
Various government agencies and institutions will participate in the drill, with the central event taking place at the Juan Pablo Duarte Government Office Building.
COE Director Juan Manuel Méndez García encouraged public participation in the drill, urging citizens to practice their family emergency plans and evacuation routes at home, work, schools, and other public spaces.
“We invite everyone to join us in this drill and practice your emergency plan,” said Méndez García. “By participating, you’ll be better prepared to respond to a real earthquake.”
