The Specialized Border Security Corps (Cesfront) in a joint operation with the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) apprehended 36 Haitian nationals in irregular migratory status. Of these, 32 were found traveling on a public transportation bus in Dajabón.
Intelligence units from Cesfront and the 10th Infantry Battalion, acting on a tip, detained the 32 undocumented Haitians, including 25 men and 7 women, who had entered the country through the Sabana de Los Miches sector of Dajabón.
Additionally, a Hyundai Universe bus, part of a public transportation route and driven by a man identified as Felbri Sánchez, was intercepted on the La Fe-Kilometer 4 stretch of the Manolo Aurelio Tavares Justo highway in Dajabón. The bus was subsequently transferred to the Cesfront Border Operations Base in Dajabón. Inside, authorities discovered four Haitian nationals in irregular migratory status.
The detained migrants were handed over to the Migration Agency (DGM) for further processing, while the Dominican driver was sent to the District Attorney’s Office of the Dajabón Judicial District.
After years of lenience, the local authorities are increasing migration controls and beginning to stop people trafficking.
