Authorities in Azua province have cracked down on several late-night establishments, closing down several businesses that served alcoholic beverages. The joint operation was carried out by various law enforcement agencies, including the Ministry of Interior and Police, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), the National Police, and the Public Ministry. The initiative is part of the new program underway by the Ministry of Interior and Police that calls for businesses to operate with less negative impact on the peace in the community.
Among the businesses affected by the closures was D’ Peter Super Frías, owned by Santiago Sención in the municipal district of Villarpando. This establishment was temporarily shut down for violating Article 1 of Law 241-68 and Law 63-17 of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) regarding the obstruction of public roads.
Additionally, authorities ordered the closure of two other businesses in Las Lomas de Azua, owned by Neri Rosso and Carina Rosso. These establishments were shut down for violating the operating hours established by the Ministry of Interior and Police through Resolution # MIP, RROOO- 2023.
According to the Alcohol Control Program (COBA), the operation was carried out in response to complaints from citizens about noise pollution and disturbances to the peace. While the article does not specify whether underage individuals, gambling machines, illegal firearms, or safety hazards were found at the establishments, all three businesses were issued notices for minor infractions. Authorities warned the owners to comply with the law or face permanent closure.
