Winning Miss Haiti hard-pressed when switching to compete for the Dominican Republic

Cassandre Jacques removed her candidacy from the contest that will choose the Dominican representative in the upcoming February 2025 Miss World. Jacques was the San Juan de la Maguana candidate to the Miss World 2025 contest before declining to participate. Nevertheless, her candidacy met with a wave of criticism.

Several felt it was not right that Jacques represent the Dominican Republic when just a year ago she had competed for Haiti and won the Miss Café princess title during the 2023 International Queen of Coffee contest held as part of the Manizales Fair in Colombia. At that contest, where she competed for Haiti, she was also voted the vice queen for the Colombian National Police. During the Colombia pageant, she competed against the candidate from the Dominican Republic.

In an emotional Instagram post, the model and flight attendant spoke of the difficult decision to step down from the competition. “With a heart full of mixed emotions and after deep reflection, I want to share a decision that hasn’t been easy for me: I have decided to resign from my participation in the Miss Mundo Dominicana pageant,” she wrote.

Jacques, who had embraced the dream of winning the crown with great passion and dedication, described the experience as one of the most important of her life. She expressed gratitude to her family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support throughout her journey.

“I want you to know that this decision does not mean the end of my journey but the beginning of a new chapter filled with projects, dreams, and opportunities that I am ready to embrace with the same passion,” she continued. Despite not making it to the Miss Mundo stage, Jacques said she would carry the lessons, strength, and transformation gained from the experience.
