Albert Pujols gets a star on Santo Domingo’s Walk of Fame

Baseball legend Albert Pujols was recently honored with a star on the Dominican Republic’s Walk of Fame, recognizing his immense contributions to the sport and his role as a positive influence on the community.

Pujols is spending most of his time in the Dominican Republic as he has taken on the challenge of managing the Escogido Lions, the capital city team, to win the Winter Professional Baseball Championship this 2024-25 season. His hard work is paying off, and the Escogido Lions are leading the regular season.

The former MLB slugger used the occasion of the Walk of Fame to inspire young people to never give up on their dreams. “This tribute is part of what I want to convey to the new generation: Always put God first and strive with discipline and dedication,” Pujols said. He added: “No one can defeat someone who doesn’t give up.”

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including former Dominican President Leonel Fernández, his father-in-law. Pujols married Fernandez’s daughter, Nicole, in September 2023.

Carlos Batista Matos, president of the Walk of Fame Foundation, expressed his satisfaction in honoring a Dominican icon like Albert Pujols. “This boulevard is filled with pride to exalt a figure like Albert Pujols, who is an example for all Dominicans,” said Batista.

Albert Pujols has been a transcendental figure both on and off the baseball field. Throughout his Major League Baseball career, he played for teams such as the St. Louis Cardinals, the Los Angeles Angels, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Throughout his career, Pujols won three Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.
