
Juan Luis Guerra, possibly the most prominent Dominican musician at this point in time, was awarded four Grammys at this year’s Latin Grammy Awards ceremony. He won Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. He also won the category for Best Merengue/Bachata Album, with “Radio Guira,” as well as winning the Grammy for the song “Mambo 23” as the Best Tropical Song.
Dominican Jose Alberto, “the Canary” also won a Grammy, and received congratulations from Culture Minister Milagros German, who called the artist from the Plaza de la Cultura where she was attending this year’s International Book Fair.
