President Luis Abinader was at the opening of the Arizona Diamondbacks Baseball Academy in Boca Chica on Monday, 18 November 2024. The academy was built at the location where the D-backs trained from 1996 to 2003.
The academy has modern training facilities, comfortable accommodations, and a commitment to providing a high-quality education to those who aspire to be professional baseball players. It incorporates three full fields, with state-of-the-art facilities for training. Baseball players participate in free online high school education.
The Diamondbacks Baseball Academy will also host regular events as part of a multi-year partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB).
Construction was begun in 2018.
