DR plays Canada for AmeriCup slot

The Dominican Republic plays Canada in the second window of the 2025 qualifiers (21-25 November 2024) for the FIBA AmeriCup. The group phase game will take place at 7pm at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Canada. DR is playing in Group C against Mexico, Nicaragua and Canada.

Canada leads with 2-2, DR and Mexico are tied with 2-1 and Nicaragua is 0-2. The DR won one game and lost one game when playing with Mexico.

On Sunday, 24 November, the Dominican national basketball team will travel to Managua, Nicaragua to play Nicaragua.

The round of games define which teams are on track for next year’s continental tournament in Nicaragua—and which teams might fall short. The top three teams from each group advance, except for Group C, where host Nicaragua already has a guaranteed spot.

This makes Group C the toughest as only two spots are available, making nearly every matchup crucial. Canada (2-0) leads, followed by the Dominican Republic (1-1) and Mexico (1-1).
