Those in the Dominican Republic can expect a pleasant and dry weekend, says the National Weather Institute (Indomet) in its forecast through Friday, 22 November 2024. A high-pressure system is keeping the skies clear and rain at bay. While a few isolated showers may pop up in some inland areas, the overall forecast is for sunny days and cool nights. The refreshing breeze will make outdoor activities enjoyable.
The explanation is that a dry air mass associated with a high-pressure system continues to influence our forecast area, limiting significant cloud formation and precipitation across the Dominican Republic. Scattered clouds will prevail, and significant rainfall will be scarce nationwide. However, the east/northeast winds will transport passing clouds that could produce brief, light showers in La Vega, Samaná, La Altagracia, and El Seibo, especially during the afternoon.
Pleasant temperatures are expected across the country, thanks to the persistent east/northeast winds providing a refreshing breeze, particularly noticeable in interior valleys, the Central Mountain Range, and other mountainous regions.
Some extremes, nevertheless, are already being reported in Constanza, where temperatures have dropped in the Valle Nuevo area to below zero, Noticias SIN reports. A low of -3 °C froze the area around the Las Piramides Visitor Center in Valle de los Frailes (La Nevera).
