Dominican FAO ambassador honored for Global Hunger Fight

Dominican Ambassador Mario Arvelo has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to eradicating global hunger. The World Food Programme (WFP) presented Arvelo with a certificate of recognition in November 2024, highlighting his “indefatigable commitment and exceptional service to end hunger in the world.”

Arvelo shared the news on X (Twitter), expressing gratitude to WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain.

Until recently, Arvelo served as the Dominican Republic’s permanent representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy.

After serving several positions abroad, Arvelo is now assigned to a term at the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Santo Domingo.
