
The Presidency announced the official visit of President Luis Abinader to Qatar. Abinader travels on Thursday, 5 December. He is accepting an invitation from the Emir of Qatar to participate in the prestigious Doha Forum. This is the first visit of a sitting Dominican President to Qatar.
During his stay, President Abinader is scheduled to meet with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, and the country’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The President’s agenda also includes discussions with high-ranking officials from various sectors, including energy, transportation, security, health, tourism, and investments.
The official delegation accompanying President Abinader will include Minister of Hacienda José Manuel Vicente, Minister of Energy and Mines Joel Santos, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Relations Hugo Rivera, and the Executive Director of ProDominicana (Dominican Republic’s Export and Investment Center) Biviana Riveiro.
Other members of the delegation include Secretary General of the Presidential Cabinet Eilyn Beltrán, the President’s Personal Assistant Mercedes Pichardo, press director Daniel García Archibald, and the Dominican Ambassador to Qatar Georges Bahsa Hazim.
Qatar, one of the world’s leading economies, holds the third-largest natural gas global reserves. The country is also known for its significant investment and cooperation capacity in sectors such as energy, tourism, security, and education.
