New Dominican ambassadors nominated; Roberto Salcedo to Panama

The Presidency announced new appointments to the Dominican embassies in Panama, United Kingdom, Chile, UN in New York and Israel by Decree 704-24. The appointments need to be confirmed in the Senate by the ruling PRM majority party before Congress closes on 12 January 2025.

Former National District Mayor Roberto Salcedo is named Dominican ambassador in Panama. Roberto Salcedo lasted 14 years as Mayor of the National District until a fourth term bid was defeated by David Collado, who had the support of the PRM and the PLD echelons at the time. Salcedo’s son, TV host and movie producer Robertico Salcedo is the head of the Special Projects Program (Propeep) of the Presidency.

Rosa Margarita Hernandez de Grullon is named ambassador to the United Kingdom. She has been ambassador to the Unesco since 2010.

Politician and economist Juan Alberto Cohen Sander was named ambassador to Chile. He was a presidential candidate for the minority party National Citizen Will Party (PNVC) for the general election 2016.

Wellington Dario Bencosme Castaños is named ambassador to the United Nations based in New York. He previously was in Trinidad & Tobago.

Olivio Adalberto Fermín Fermín is named ambassador to Israel. Fermin was serving as member of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) of the United Nations. He has a long career working in the United Nations headquarters.

José Alfonso Blanco Conde is appointed Dominican ambassador to Canada. Previously, he was the Dominican ambassador to the United Nations.
