Rain cancellations force Lidom games schedule changes; Regular season extended

As of 25 December 2024, the Estrellas Orientales (29 wins and 20 losses) were in first place of the 2024-25 Dominican Professional Baseball League Championship. The Aguilas Cibaeñas follow with a record of 28 wins and 22 losses. Next are the Tigres del Licey with 25-20 and the Leones del Escogido (22-25) that are tied with the Gigantes del Cibao (22-25). The top four teams move on to the second phase of the tournament.

The Dominican Professional Winter Baseball League (Lidom) announced a series of schedule changes due to recent rain cancellations. The most notable adjustment is the regular season was extended through 30 December to accommodate rescheduled games.

Inclement weather has caused several games to be postponed over the past few weeks. To make up for lost time, Lidom has scheduled doubleheaders and night games to complete the regular season schedule. The final game of the regular season, a matchup between the Tigres del Licey and the Leones del Escogido, is scheduled for Monday, 30 December at 7:15pm and will only be played if necessary.

The rescheduled games will determine the final standings and playoff seeding for the round-robin, which is set to begin in January.
