MLB star Juan Soto visits DNCD president to discuss youth programs; says present at a Licey game

Juan Soto, the star outfielder for the New York Mets and the best-paid baseball player of all times, paid a visit to Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), on 7 January 2025 to discuss the agency’s sports festivals and youth outreach initiatives across the country.

During the meeting, Soto commended the DNCD for its ongoing prevention programs aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of narcotics among children, adolescents, and adults.

“I want to congratulate you on your recent contract with the New York Mets, and thank you for this very special visit,” said Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa. “You are a role model for our youth, and your humility and integrity make you even greater.”

The DNCD president also emphasized his commitment to expanding the agency’s educational and outreach programs in support of Dominican youth. In 2024, the DNCD reached over 20,000 young people nationwide through talks, sports equipment donations, court refurbishments, and other activities aimed at prevention and awareness.
