Escogido takes the lead

In a game that ended 6-0 at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Ball Park in Santo Domingo, the Leones del Escogido took the leadership of the 2024-25 Dominican Professional Winter Championship. The Escogido has won two of the three games played. The seven-game series continues this weekend.

Lidom reported that Junior Caminero drove in three runs and Johnny Cueto tossed a complete-game shutout for the Leones del Escogido. Cueto (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out three in six innings, facing 22 batters. Alexander Colomé, Jeurys Familia, and Jesús Liranzo joined Cueto in the five-hit shutout.

Tigers starter Radhamés Liz (0-1) had a shaky outing and took the loss. He was pulled after five innings, allowing five hits and four earned runs, while striking out five.

The Dominican League (Lidom) final series will be on hiatus on Thursday and will resume on Friday with the fourth game, with the Leones hosting.

Wednesday’s game was the highest-scoring of this 2025 final series.

The winner of the series will represent the country in the Caribbean Series, which begins on 31 January in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
