President Luis Abinader was in northcentral Duarte province to cut the ribbon on over half a dozen government projects. President Abinader inaugurated public schools, sports facilities, and remodeled hospitals in Duarte province all day Saturday, 25 January 2025. He announced the San Vicente de Paul Public Hospital in San Francisco de Macoris, under renovation by the present administration, will be the largest in the northern region.
He chose to visit the northeastern province that carries the name of the Dominican forefather, on the occasion of Duarte Day over the entire weekend.
Duarte was one of the Founding Fathers of the Dominican Republic. He founded the Trinitario group that motivated independence from Haitian control in 1844.
