Leones del Escogido make it to the Caribbean Series finals

It was a stunning game, with the Dominican team (Leones del Escogido) finally pulling ahead of the past championship winning Venezuela (Cardenales de Lara) 5-4 to win the game in the 11th inning. The game was tied 3-3 in the 10th inning when the DR scored a run, but the Venezuelans came back and tied the game again. A double by Socrates Brito would make the difference and clinch the playoff slot for the DR in the game set for 7 February.

Mexico (Charros de Jalisco) would defeat Puerto Rico (Indios de Mayaguez) 3-1 in the following game, so it will be Mexico vs. DR in the finals on Friday, 7 February at 10pm to decide the winner of the 67th Caribbean Series.

David Venn of MLB pointed out in his reporting that for Mexico (5-0), the undefeated host country of the Caribbean Series 2025, it will be their first title game in seven years. The Dominican Republic has won three of the past five championships, yet the Escogido team has not won a championship since 2013.
