
President Luis Abinader traveled on Monday, 17 February 2025 to Georgetown, Guyana to follow up on several projects underway in Guyana and for which in August 2023 six MOUs were signed in Santo Domingo. In Guyana, President Abinader will also attend the Guyana Energy Conference, invited by Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. The Dominican Presidency explained that Abinader upon his arrival to Guyana, Abinader would hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, the President of Guyana.
On Tuesday, President Abinader is scheduled to speak before the conference’s inauguration. After cutting the ribbon to officially open the exhibition, he will tour the conference exposition that showcases participating companies and countries.
Following the tour, the Dominican leader will join a luncheon hosted by President Ali for all conference attendees.
President Abinader will conclude his visit with a stop at the newly inaugurated Dominican Embassy in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana.
This marks the second visit to Guyana by President Abinader. The Guyanese president also visited the Dominican Republic in August 2023, during which both leaders witnessed the signing of agreements in the areas of energy, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, security, and industry.
Accompanying President Abinader on this trip are Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos; his assistants Eilyn Beltrán and Mercedes Pichardo; engineer Ramón Alburquerque; Tulio Rodríguez; as well as chief of security and CUSEP director general, Major General Jimmy Arias.
The Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo is an annual event uniting industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore developments and opportunities in energy and supply chains. The conference is seen as key to charting a sustainable, prosperous future in the energy sector.
