Turizoneando in the Colonial City

The Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, with the support of the Dominican Restaurant Association (Aderes), the Association of Bars and Restaurants of the Colonial Zone (Abzocol) and the Santo Domingo Hotels Association, has coordinated a new year of Turizoneando, the Colonial City cultural events time. A series of events are happening from 14 February through 29 June at six locations in the capital city’s historic center.

The program features more than 250 activities with expressions of folklore, music, gastronomy and crafts over the 20 weekends period.

The initiative has as its main objective to strengthen the influx of visitors, both local and international, to the various attractions of our destination, thus contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

The initiative is happening at a time when the Colonial City is under a widespread renovation effort that has made circulation of vehicles difficult and has shut down several key locations. But the historic city always has new attractions, including the recently opened Cathedral Museum (Isabel la Catolica Street) and the Taino Cultural Center ( Casa del Cordon – Isabel la Católica Street).

On the cultural program from 10am to 6pm are:
Live guitar performances on the Las Damas street.
The Ministry of Tourism folklore dance and typical music groups at Columbus Park.
Live artistic presentations at the Escalinatas del Conde, at night. Among artists that will perform are: Jon Lyno, Nairobi Duarte, Emm Silverio, Joseph Miller, Omar Quezada, Patty Moll, Mache Mache, among others.
The “Artisan Markets” will offer their creations in the Billini Park, on Arzobispo Meriño Street, corner of Padre Billini.
Soul and Jazz will have “Jazzeando Soul” on Hostos Street, corner of Padre Billini,
“Salsa in the Zone” and “Melody in the Zone” on Emiliano Tejera Street, corner of Hostos, on Saturdays starting at 7pm.
