
Emmanuel Fritz Lonchamp, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chief of Staff of President René Préval, is the New Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic.
The Haitian Embassy in the Dominican Republic has announced the arrival of its head of mission, Emmanuel Fritz Longchamp. He will officially assume his role as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador once he presents his credentials to President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña. He succeeds Smith Augustin, whose term ended in June 2022.
Longchamp has a long career in politics and diplomacy, having held important positions in the Haitian government.
Longchamp began his work at the embassy on Monday, 17 February 2025, making initial contact with the four Haitian consulates in the Dominican Republic, as reported in Acento.
He served as Haiti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2001 under President René Préval. During that time, he played a key role in relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, leading the work of the Bilateral Joint Commission.
